The statistics are astounding. Roughly one in five people who die from drowning are children ages 14 and younger. African-American children ages 5-19 drown in swimming pools 5 1/2 times more often than white children. Emerald Youth is committed to teaching more urban children to swim, and we also offer a competitive swim team during the summer.
