Emerald Youth announced a new Health Center to be housed in the Lonsdale Area Ministry Complex currently under construction.

The Health Center will be operated independently by Cherokee Health Systems through a collaborative agreement between Cherokee Health Systems, The University of Tennessee Medical Center and Emerald Youth Foundation and will provide a continuum of patient-centered health care services with an emphasis on wellness and prevention, as well as treatment of acute and chronic conditions.

As June begins, young people across the city are connecting through JustLead — Emerald Youth’s urban church and after-school ministry, Emerald Youth Sports and the Calling and Career Ministry. There are currently 1,821 young people engaged with Emerald Youth Foundation’s programs, a year-to-date increase of 9%.

Summer is always a unique time that provides additional ways to live out John 10:10 with young people, helping to ensure that every child, in every neighborhood, has a full life. Outdoor fun, educational and enrichment activities, and meaningful times of discipleship help our staff and volunteers build deep relationships with young people across the city.

Elementary and middle school youth are participating in swim lessons, music lessons, Bible study and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) programs, just to name a few offerings. They’re also taking plenty of field trips to places like Oak Ridge Children’s Museum, Alcoa Pool, The Muse, Cruz Farm, Skatetown and several area parks.

High school students are participating in a variety of workshops, as well as visits to the Air National Guard Base, Tusculum University, Beck Cultural Exchange Center, Walters State, GRIDSMART and the University of Tennessee. They’ll also enjoy some fun in the sun at Kentucky Splash Waterpark, and a select group of students chosen for their outstanding leadership will travel to Laguna Beach Christian Retreat in Panama City Beach, Florida for a week-long retreat.
