Reflections on 2018

Thanks to your generosity, volunteer efforts and commitment to prayer, 2,376 city young people were served in the heart of Knoxville in 2018.

It was a meaningful year in a number of ways:

  • We expanded our Calling and Career Ministry to three locations including Mechanicsville, Oakwood-Lincoln Park and Lonsdale, and 100% of the high school seniors who participated were admitted to post-secondary four-year schools.

  • 89% of elementary and middle school youth who engaged in our after-school program showed growth in math or reading.

  • Emerald Youth Sports continued to expand with a total of 1,646 young athletes participating in soccer, swimming, performance training and six other sports. In rec league volleyball alone, 166 middle and high school girls played – a 14% increase over 2017.

We also began neighborhood youth outreach through new partnerships with Woodlawn Christian Church in South Knoxville and North Knoxville Baptist, just off Oldham Avenue. In the Beaumont neighborhood, Western Heights Baptist Center expanded its partnership with Emerald Youth to serve even more young people and their families. Your faithfulness to Knoxville’s children, teens and young adults is making an incredible impact and helping them become our city’s next generation of Godly leaders. Thank you!
