Emerald Youth foundation is a Christian, urban youth and community ministry in Knoxville, TN serving over 2,000 young people annually. Emerald Youth’s ministry is implemented through a network of more than 18 churches and faith-based organizations to raise up a large number of urban youth who love Jesus Christ and become effective leaders who help renew their communities.


Calling and Career Ministry Volunteer Positions

TIMES: School Year or Summer: 1 or more hours a week Monday, Tuesday or Thursday afternoon or evenings.
COMMITMENT: School year preferred, but one school semester accepted; or summer program

LIFE COACH
Work one-0n-one or in small groups with high school age young people in a specific subject area. Coach students on fundamentals necessary to prepare for college or career path.

TUTOR OR HOMEWORK HELP
Help high school age young people as needed with homework (during school year)

ACT PREP FACILITATOR
Facilitate and/or support related activities to prepare students for ACT exams in a particular subject area (math, science, reading, English).

ENRICHMENT ACTIVITY LEADER
Facilitate and/or support related activities to share a special skill or hobby i.e., art projects, creative writing, poetry slam, science experiments, trivia nights, etc.


JustLead Ministry Volunteer Positions

TIMES: School Year: weekdays 3:00-6:00pm or some evenings depending on age of youth Summer: during the day on weekdays

COMMITMENT: School year preferred, but one school semester accepted; or summer program

TUTOR
Work one-0n-one or in small groups with elementary or middle school age young people in a specific subject area.

HOMEWORK HELP
Help elementary school age young people as needed with homework (during school year)

PROGRAM SUPPORT
Be present during general program time to support youth and activities

FIELD TRIP SUPPORT
Chaperone field trips (usually on Fridays)

LIFE SKILLS/HEALTH AND ENRICHMENT
Facilitate and/or support related activities

CHOIR COACH
Provide support during choir rehearsals, performances and other music related activities

SMALL GROUPS, BIBLE STUDY, COOK, WORSHIP
Lead or participate in any one of the aforementioned activities for elementary, middle and high school age young people.

TIMES: Mostly on Wednesday evenings, Sundays or during weekend camps/retreats

Sports Volunteer Positions

BASKETBALL, VOLLEYBALL, SOCCER, SWIMMING, BASEBALL, TRACK, WRESTLING AND LACROSSE

TIMES: Weekday evening practices (2x a week) held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. Games on weekends.
COMMITMENT: 2-5 hours a week per season

COACH
Plan practices, attend games, communicated with parents and
players. Actively interact with and encourage players.

ASSISTANT COACH
Assist in planning practices, attend games, communicate with parents and
players. Actively interact with and encourage players.

SCOREKEEPER
Prepare and provide prayer and devotion for players during practice and games

CONCESSIONS STAND
Sell tickets and run concessions during games

Due to the nature of Emerald Youth’s work, background checks are completed on all volunteers serving directly with youth.  If selected to volunteer with Emerald Youth Foundation, you will be asked to complete a confidential online authorization form.  Keep in mind that releasing your social security number is a required part of this authorization form. The submission of a background screening does not guarantee a volunteer position within Emerald Youth Foundation.
